Should You Be Using a Content Writing Service?

March 31, 2021 by David Henderson

As a small business owner, you may be writing content for your website. But there will come a point when you just don’t have enough time, or you just are not getting the conversions you should be. Not everyone is a born writer, and many people do not know how to create content for SEO. Our content marketing services Canada specialists suggest that our clients use a content writing service to get the full benefit for their marketing efforts.

It is not only time-consuming but writing all content for your site can either make or break it when it comes to SEO. High-quality content on a website can result in more leads and conversions, and improved search engine rankings. But it isn’t easy to create an arsenal of timely, well-written content that will position your company as a leader in its field.

Satisfy Market Demand

Approximately 65 percent of content marketers say their biggest challenge is producing enough content to satisfy market demand. This just further illustrates the demand for content and how businesses should be taking advantage of the lack of information available online. While it may seem as though the internet has more information than could ever be consumed, it is quite the opposite.

Google indexes sites that have relevant, updated information and many sites just don’t live up to these standards. This is what is creating this gap in information, and the need for quality content online. The public wants information, and your business could be the one to provide it to them.

Content Writing Service

Revenue from Content Marketing Services

Contrary to what some think, hiring a content writer doesn’t need to break the bank, and paired with an effective SEO strategy, it can actually bring revenue into the business. No matter if it is website copy, blog posts, SEO pages, white papers, or more, a content writer can extremely benefit your company.

The main goal of having quality content on your site is to boost ranking in SEO and yield high conversion rates. Content marketing services specialists in Canada understand what drives customers to click on those call to actions within the page. This can mean anything from downloading a free printable, attending an event, or contacting your office. By knowing exactly where to place the action and making it eye-catching, a content writer can get you more clicks.

Things like headlines and meta descriptions are also vital in raising your search engine rankings. By including strategic keywords in your content, you can further prove its relevance to Google and reach your target audience.

Overall, when a customer visits your website, they are interested in learning more about what it would be like to work with, or purchase from your company. Strong website content can help to establish your brand’s voice and maintain a consistent persona across all channels.

The Value in Content Writing Services

The full value in hiring a content writing service isn’t always evident at first, but after a short time, you should start to see more views and conversions. Content writers know how to work keywords into content and use formatting that will gain the attention of Google crawlers which can rank your website accordingly.

Free up your time spent on writing and contact our content writing specialists today. At Unwired Web Solutions our experts in SEO can create content for your business that can help get you noticed on Google and turn browsers into buyers.

The Importance of a Mobile-Friendly Website

March 25, 2021 by David Henderson

You understand the importance of a strong online presence to the success of your business. That’s why you have invested time and money in a strong content marketing strategy that incorporates search engine optimization. If you’ve noticed that, despite efforts such as these, your pages are not generating the rankings and traffic that they should, it may be that your website is not mobile-friendly. Fortunately, a website design company Waterloo specialist may be able to help redesign your site for better compatibility.

What Is a Mobile-Friendly Website?

A mobile-friendly website has been modified for better display and functionality on a device with a smaller screen. Compare your desktop monitor to your smartphone screen, and you’ll notice some significant differences between the two. Not only is your monitor screen larger, but it is also wider. While you can turn your smartphone to display in landscape view, many people using their smartphones to use the internet do not. Therefore, a website that is not optimized for mobile devices does not fit well on a smartphone screen. The text may be too tiny to read, or the consumer may have to do a lot of swiping, pinching, and zooming to see all the content.

Why Is a Mobile-Friendly Website Important?

It hasn’t even been 15 years since Apple introduced the first smartphone, but since that time, the devices have become an indispensable part of many people’s lives. A majority of Canadians — 85% — own a smartphone, and since 2014, more people worldwide use mobile devices to access the internet than a desktop computer. The average user spends nearly 2 1/2 hours out of every day interacting with his or her smartphone. Tracked individually, the total number of smartphone engagements averages about 200 per day.

All of this means that your customer base is far more likely to engage with your website on a mobile device than on a desktop computer. Having a mobile-friendly website allows you to meet consumers where they are.

Mobile-Friendly Website

How Is It Detrimental if Your Website Is Not Mobile-Friendly?

Since most of your customers are probably going to access your website with a smartphone or tablet, their user experience is likely to be frustrating if your website is not mobile-friendly. If customers cannot read your website or find what they are looking for easily, they are unlikely to linger on it for very long. As a result, you may see high bounce rates for a website that is not mobile-friendly. In other words, people may visit but do not linger on your site for very long. A mobile-friendly site that is easy to search, navigate, and read encourages smartphone and tablet users to stay longer and look around at all you have to offer.

It may be that having a website that is not mobile-friendly prevents customers from finding your site in the first place. Since at least 2016, Google has used mobile-friendliness as a factor for ranking sites in web searches, and in 2018, it became a minimum requirement due to mobile-first indexing. Because of these changes, you may not be making it onto the first page of search results if your website isn’t mobile-friendly. Since a majority of people performing web searches do not look past the first page of results, your website may as well be invisible if it isn’t ranking.

How Can a Website Design Company Waterloo Help You?

It is important to note that a website that has been resized to fit on a smartphone screen isn’t necessarily mobile-friendly. A truly mobile-friendly website provides the user with an optimum experience through elements designed with their habits in mind. A cookie-cutter solution won’t do. That’s why Unwired Web Solutions works with you to create a custom experience geared toward your targeted demographic. Find out more about our design process for mobile development.

What Is a Featured Snippet?

March 18, 2021 by David Henderson

The featured snippet is the most coveted position pursued by search engine optimization Kitchener companies. Not every search option returns a featured snippet, but the most popular search questions do. Companies love to rank for this position because it provides the opportunity to distinguish themselves from competitors. It also confirms that they are the subject matter experts on the specific topic, which customers begin to notice when this ranking is consistent across related queries.

What Is a Google Snippet?

Featured snippets are the highlighted answers in search position zero. They illustrate what Google decides is the best answer to a query. Google displays this information without the need for a potential client to click on your website while still crediting you for the information.

Google also provides rich text associated with every other result provided. It increasingly highlights the specific text on web pages that answer a question, even if it does not rank in search position zero.

What Are the Different Types?

Google provides four main types of featured snippets. The main difference between all four is formatting.

Listicles

If you write a listicle article, Google might use the headings from the list to answer someone’s questions. For example, say you write an article on how to change a tire. Each step and its subheading would be another item on Google’s list.

Tables

Google might go a step further with formatting and present the information in the form of a table. The table does not always have visible lines, so you might confuse it with lists. A common query Google responds to with this format is when you look for the annual weather averages of an area. It provides a table showing the month, high and low temperatures and the inches of rain received.

Paragraphs

Not surprisingly, most featured snippets take the form of regular paragraphs. In some cases, Google will string together information from different paragraphs to create a new paragraph that answers the specific query.

Video

Sometimes, the best answer to your question is a video. Marketers believe that videos will become more prevalent as featured snippets, over time. Videos are most likely to rank in featured snippets for how-to queries, such as, “How to change windshield wipers”.

Google featured snippets

Is It Worth Ranking for This?

Some companies believe ranking for a featured snippet does not provide any real benefits to the business beyond exposure. After all, if clients can see the answer without clicking on the website, why would they visit? In spite of these concerns, one study showed that when companies rank for search position zero, they increased organic traffic by roughly 516%.

Another important reason to rank for featured snippets is the prevalence of voice search. Virtual assistants, such as Google Home, Siri and Alexa, have popularized the practice of asking Google questions by speaking to it.

These answers tend to come from featured snippets and rich text. Voice search does not immediately lead to sales conversions, but Google credits the website for the information. Over time, consumers notice when they hear the same subject matter expert’s name over and over again.

What Can I Do To Get Started?

The high competition for the featured snippet position makes it difficult to rank for, but that depends on the keywords. When you work with our search engine optimization Kitchener specialists, they complete keyword research and determine which keywords are easiest for you to rank for. Niche keywords, especially long-tail keywords are worth aiming for when the competition is too stiff for more popular search terms.

Why Google Reviews Are So Important for Your Business

March 12, 2021 by David Henderson

For local businesses, getting customers to give you a review on Google should be a top priority. Getting reviews from customers has always been a significant exercise for business, but today more than ever, with Google Business Profile, the importance is greater than ever. In Google’s pursuit to deliver the most relevant results for local searches, they not only look at what your business does, but also how it is perceived. They do this by checking how many reviews you have and what your average customer rating is. Any SEO company will be able to tell you that in working with their clients, they will have seen this play out many times over the past few years.

When a person scans the search results for a local product or service in Google, the business listings that include relevant customer reviews present greater credibility, and naturally receive more clicks. For example, if you have a 4.5 star rating, and 16 reviews and your competitor has less, it is strong social proof that your service or product is trustworthy. This means the quality of the reviews come into play when Google is ranking websites for local SEO.

Google Local Listing

Research shows that a growing percentage of shoppers are no longer visiting websites before making contact. Local consumers are now simply getting the information they need right from the Google Local Listing and calling directly. All of this is done based on the information they found within those local listings on Google.

This concept is so important to understand and embrace as part of your marketing strategy. If your local listing is not optimized and not being managed on a regular basis, you are not taking advantage of one of the most powerful marketing tools available to local businesses. By regularly adding new photos, creating new posts, and responding to reviews, your business will stand out among the rest.

Google Reviews

Google Ranking

Need another reason to be actively managing your Google Local Listings and focusing on reviews? Your website will no longer rank at the very top of Google even if you are doing an excellent job with your SEO and achieve a top ranking for your local area. This is because Google has positioned its Google Local Listings above organic results, just underneath Google ads.

This means that even if your business is ranked #1 organically, it may not show up until the 8th or 9th position down the page. The top 3 to 4 positions are now reserved for Google ads and the next three go to local listings. This is why keeping your Google Local Listings up to date with relevant reviews is so important.

Paying for Reviews

Never, under any circumstance pay for reviews. Although it may be tempting to offer incentives in exchange for reviews, it goes against Google’s terms of service. So, never advertise a free drink for showing a completed review, or a discounted service for a review. If you are caught offering these incentives, it may greatly harm your Google ranking.

Overall, the quality and quantity of reviews on Google is one of the most important ranking factors for local SEO. Remind customers that they can leave a review on Google and mention that it will help your local business grow. You may be surprised at how many people want to voice their opinion about your business.
